New Member Orientation

2010 membership Year

·         The Club’s website has a “Members Info” section that you should access and review, including list of Officers, Telltales newsletter, Bylaws, General Rules, Water Level, and New Member Orientation. Please review.

·         Review the Club Bylaws posted on the Club’s website at www.ecsail.org/by_laws.htm.

·         Review the Club’s General Rules posted on the Club’s website at www.ecsail.org/general_rules.htm.

·         The TellTales newsletter is usually posted on the Club’s website by the first of the month. You should review it.

·         Place the current round Membership Decal on the portside of your boat’s bow, and on the left side of your trailer’s tongue.

·         Annual Dues are usually due the last day of February. If you wish to renew your membership, you will receive an ECSC Annual Dues/Fee Statement by mid-January. Full payment of the Dues and Fees is required by the last day of February. If you pay late, and miss the due date, you will lose your spot on the wet slip wait list. If you are a slip owner, and pay late, you will lose your wet slip and be placed on the bottom of the wet slip wait list after your outstanding dues and fees are paid in full. If you don’t receive your Annual Dues/Fee Statement by February 1, please contact the Membership Chair.

·         Review the back-side of your Annual Dues/Fees Statement before signing and returning.

·         Notify the Membership Chair of any address changes.

·         One Ground Parking space is assigned to all new members who have not been assigned a wet slip or beach parking assignment.

·         When you are contacted by the Harbormaster and offered a wet slip sub-lease, please reply promptly, else the next person on the wait list will be contacted.

·         When you are a Slip Owner, but do not want to use your Slip for a season, you may sub-lease it by contacting the Harbormaster. You must pay your Slip Fee. You will be reimbursed when your slip is subleased.

·         If you are a Slip Owner, after your boat has been launched, your trailer must be stored in the Trailer Parking Lot located at the top of the hill near the Club’s entrance. Please read the sign that identifies the dates when trailers may be parked in the Lot.

·         The 48 Hour Dock is almost always available, although dockage may be difficult during Club regattas when out of town guests are visiting.

·         Monitor the Reservoir Water Level on www.ecsail.org; go to “Members Info”. Owners with boats with 4 foot (plus) drafts will often pull-out when water level falls below 788.0 feet.

·         Work Credits – volunteer to help, earn $10/hour towards next year’s Annual Dues, up to 15 Work Credits may be applied ($150 maximum).

·         Ground Parking for your boat and trailer is included with your membership.

·         Boats located along the left-side of the bottom of the hill, as you enter the Club area, are “For Sale”.

·         If you wish to keep your small boat on the Beach (shoreline), there is an additional $50 fee.

·         Winter Storage is available for a fee of $75, payable when you renew your Annual Dues. Many members begin to pull their boats out in mid-September, with most boats out of the water by November 1. Please remove the boat from Club Property if you are done for the season and are not paying for Winter Storage. Any boat on Club property on December 1st is invoiced for Winter Storage, even if you remove the boat after December 1st.

·         There is no assigned parking for Winter Storage.

·         Trailers should not be parked in the roped parking area (inside and outside the ropes) until after the Hornback Regatta, unless otherwise directed by the Harbormaster.

·         Do not park your car or trailer in another member’s assigned parking spot, even if the parking area is empty. Many members travel out of town with their boats.

·         Warning. When departing the Club to go to the main body of the reservoir, the water depth is very shallow along the northern side as your approach the main body of the Reservoir. Steer your boat at least 300 feet beyond that point before turning north to avoid running aground.

·         If you observe that the Main Gate is open after dark, please close and lock it.

·         Keep a Club Key in your possession in the event the gate is locked so you may let yourself out. Contact the Membership Chair (ecsc_membership@yahoo.com) for a replacement key or to order an extra key.

·         Please avoid parking your car in front of boats and trailers of other Club members.

·         No swimming in the Club area.

·         Please park your boat in its assigned spot by June 1 of each year. When you become a wet slip owner, you must keep the trailer stored in the Upper Trailer Lot.

·         The Club has regular Racing activity on Wednesday night and Weekends. Expect the launching ramp to be very busy during that time. Do not block the ramp.

·         The Club has a mast Hoist that you may use. Watch the height of your mast before driving your boat on trailer beneath Hoist. Several members have severed their mast and rigging by not looking up.

·         The Club’s Pressure Washer is usually turned off for the season in early November or at the time of the first freeze. Plan accordingly.

·         ICE is available at the Club for $1.00 / bag and is on the honor system. Leave money in the cloth bag located inside the Ice Machine.
