The weather is warm, the water is up – Let’s go sailing!
We got word earlier this month that Citizen’s Energy has begun raising the lake back to normal levels. At this writing, the depth at the end of the ramp is above 6 ft and rising. Now if we can get the trailer field dried out….
Mother’s Day is fast approaching. I’m sure Vickie Greenough and her team have a great event planned. Bring a dish to share and enjoy the warm weather. Then, take everyone out for a sail!
Our other big event for May is the Mayor’s Cup on May 18-19. Don’t forget that the Saturday night dinner/dance is open to all club members. If you want to come out and eat, you can purchase a dinner for a nominal fee. Or you can just come out to enjoy the music for free.
Parking Lot Restrictions
Please remember that all boats must be out of the parking corral and the parking down near the boat ramp by Saturday 5/11. Boats in the parking spaces will be moved to another part of the club.
In keeping with last month’s newsletter, here are updates on our on-going projects.
We are in the midst of getting the necessary permits for replacing the boat ramp. We tried to get it approved as a maintenance project but were told we have to go through the full permit process. This will take 4-6 months. Good thing we started early. Hopefully, we can still get it done this year. If not, we will shoot for next March before the club opens.
Mast-raising Gin Pole Replacement
Dennis Robertson and crew are working out the details to replace our wooden gin pole with a metal pole. The designs are completed, and he is working on lining up the heavy equipment and labor. The new pole will be relocated so it is not in such a high-traffic area. It will include a retractable arm to avoid any future mishaps with masts.
Summer Sail Camp
Our summer sailing camp is full. As usual, it filled up very quickly.
Racing Season Starts
Racing season has started, and several races have been held. Thanks to all who help with the food after racing. It is greatly appreciated by all. We have several ways for members to get involved in our racing program. We have beginner fleets for those who are new to racing. And we can always use help with Race Committee on Wednesday nights and at Regattas. Come on out, spend the day/evening on the water and get a great view of the racing.
Ki Hickok sent out an email to get the dry slip parking spaces implemented. Please have your request back to him by May 18 so you have a better chance of getting your requested location. It’s going to take a while to get everyone into their desired dry slip. Please be patient with us as we get this implemented.
The Ladies Sailing group is in full swing. They met recently to plan their activities for the year. They are starting with upgrading and planting our various flower beds. They have several social events planned as well. If you want to get involved, contact Nan Schulze.
The large grill in the upper shelter was falling apart, and got replaced in time for Mother’s Day brunch. We also have smaller gas grills in all shelters for club member use. Feel free to use them for family gatherings and cookouts. If you need to use the entire shelter, contact Vickie Greenough to reserve.
50th Anniversary Gala
Plans are well underway for our 50th Anniversary Gala. We have several days of activities planned for club members, guests and past members. Announcements will be coming out soon to let you know what activities are scheduled.
See you around the club and out on the water.
The club is beginning to buzz with activity. Thank you to Ken Orndorff for assisting with delivering the new 54 inch industrial grill! It arrived just in time for Mother’s Day Brunch which will be hosted again this season by Mike and Katie Smith on Monday, May 12th at 11:30am. They have hosted this event for several years and do a fantastic job! The weather looks promising so we are hoping for a nice turnout for our fist event of the season.

Hello everyone this is Ki Hickok assistant harbor master. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to request your preferred dry parking spot. I have attached a chart of the dry parking spots and each spot has a letter and number just like the wet slips. Please email me back with your top 3 requested spots, your name, and member number thank you. Also if you could indicate if you have had your boat in that spot for multiple years if you would like. I suggest having all 3 choices in different rows, or at least the 3rd choice in another row just to be safe. Also I request if you don’t plan on putting in your boat about every week then don’NO NAMES ON PARKING SPACES – 2019-Dry Sail Slots (2)t request the ecsc parkway thank you. I will need this emailed to me no later than may 18th please, late responses may lose their current dry slip location. Also those with multiple boats must submit a request for each boat and make sure to designate which is your primary boat that will be placed first. I will be placing all primary boats in spots first then the secondary boats after all members who request a spot has one.

Spring is here! Racing is here! Let the good times roll!! Although the changing water levels at Eagle Creek are ever-challenging, hopefully everyone has had a chance to check out their boats’ needs and is ready to race.
In case you missed it, April 12th was the Work Party. We had great support from club members getting the race committee’s check list done! Special projects included installing motors on the main RC ( Elliot II) and the Aircraft Carrier (USS Gilmor). When operating the committee boats, please remember to check the new motor break-in schedule and follow the instructions on the lamented card on each boat with a new motor.
The first Wednesday race was held last week. Despite the threat of a no-wind evening, surprisingly the wind came up for the five go-getters. The group of racers had to endure a shortened course, but the dogs and Sloppy Joes were delicious.
We have also raced the first Sunday Honor Series. The start time for all fleets is 3:00pm, with time limits will in effect. A great time for a long sail down the lake and back. For those with smart phones, download the RaceQ app and record your race. After racing we’ll watch the 3D replay and discuss results at the race shack while we dine and snack. See the Sailing Instructions for further details.
Mayor’s Cup Regatta—May 18th and 19th!!

Ahoy ECSC Sailors,
As I write this our website is being moved from on set of servers to another. What does this mean to you? Well, you should notice no difference in the website once the move has been completed. However, during the move we have had to work to restore much of the data and documents that were uploaded this fall. Please be patient as many of the documents for racing seem to have disappeared in the move. Rest assured that the publicity department is working diligently to address this issue. Thank go to Geoff Endris for working with our “web guy” to insure that everything is restored. Also, we are working to add a security certificate to insure the browsing safety of our site.
Also, please remember that all club emails will come with our burgee in the upper left corner. When in doubt please do not click on links in emails unless you see this burgee. If in doubt, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm the authenticity of the email.
