This is the time of year that I cannot wait for our sailing season to start!   Bring on the sunshine, warm air, and the sounds of comradery as people begin to sand, wax, paint, and tweak their boats.

Being a volunteer-based Club, we will be seeking assistance with spring clean up, preparing our safety boats for the season, installing a new rib lift, planting flowers, hosting events, assisting with racing, and so much more!   If you have a special skill or specific interests outside of sailing, please let a board member know as we may have a small project you can assist with.

Happy March, Everyone!

Just a quick update on the B dock replacement:   everything is still on schedule for the new installation in early April.   If you have any personal items on the old B dock that you would like to keep, please make sure to remove them by the end of March.

We’ve also scheduled our Spring Cleanup Party for Saturday, March 29th.   On this day, we’re planning to turn the water back on for the upper shelter and pressure sprayer booth (weather permitting).   This will be a great opportunity to get some early-season work credits and enjoy a day with friends.

We’re looking forward to another fantastic season together!

Hello Fellow Sailors!

March’s weather is always a tease in Indiana.   The warm, sunny days bring us outside.   The wind picks up and the dream of getting back out on Eagle Creek becomes more tangible.   Then, Mother Nature hits us with another cold front, ice storm, or otherwise rains on our parades (too often, quite literally).   But, if we blink a few times, sailing season will be upon us again...and with that the start of our social calendar!

We could not pull off any of these events without our amazing and awesome volunteers!   If there are any events or projects you be specifically interested in hosting or helping with, please let us know!   For everyone who designated social as an area where you would like to volunteer this year when you renewed your membership, we will be contacting you to see which event(s) would be a good fit.   If you are new to the Club, these events are a great way to meet other members!

Our social season always kicks off with our Mother’s Day Brunch in May and ends with the Final Bash in November.   Below is the list of events for this year:

Mother’s Day Brunch – May 11th
Memorial Day Weekend Cookout – May 26th
Father’s Day Brunch – June 15th
Family Fun Day Cookout – July 5th
ECSC Beach Party/Pig Roast – July 19th **
Labor Day Weekend Cookout – September 1st
Lobsterfest – September 27th **
Hornback Chili Cookoff – October 4th
Final Bash – November 1st **

    ** Requires RSVP and pre-payment

So, enjoy getting out on sunny warm days, working on your boats, and we will see everyone out at the Club soon!

Winter seems to have been particularly long and cold this year.   It has kept us racing members apart for longer than is good for our mental health.   Given that circumstance, the Goffs and I have taken it upon ourselves to have already put together two Winter Race Meetings that were very well attended.

It was great seeing you all again and renewing our friendships.   We put together our coming racing schedule and discussed many topics regarding the coming season.   We have some significant changes that should make this season a very enjoyable one.

We have one Winter Race Meeting left on Wednesday March 26th at Eaton Hall in Brownsburg, IN.   We plan to make this an educational meeting to review the new US Sailing Racing Rules while presenting actual cases experienced during the past year’s racing season whose discussion should help clarify the racing rules for any interested sailor.   Hope you will join us.

Our racing season will begin on Wednesday night April 16th...a mere 6 weeks away.   We will be getting all the racing equipment and boats prepared over that time for an exceptional year of racing.   We would love to have you help us as a volunteer in the coming week to minimize our work and give us good company.

It's time to start getting our Club back into working order.   Below shows our upper shelter that could use some "un-winterizing." - as well as the floats for the new B Dock.   Some of our boats also need unwrapped!!

Seems all our trailered boats need moved from winter storage and into the water:

Remember, all boats & trailers need removed from our corral area before Mother's Day.   And, no parking trailers up in our Trailer Park until May 1st!
